The Power of the VI Peel Blend
***VI Peel’s Core Formula contains a proprietary blend of acids, each with an active percentage of <15%. Formulated for all skin tones and concerns***
RETINOIC ACID (Vitamin A): promoting increased cell turnover, collagen and elastin stimulation, inhibits melanogenesis.
SALICYLIC ACID: BHA and keratolytic. Effective anti-acne ingredients. Cuts down on the shedding of cells within the follicles, reducing impactions, and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent.
PHENOL: Traps free radicals, work as a chemical cauterant to exfolitate the skin, and is an effective numbing agent.
TRICHOLORACETIC ACID (TCA): drives depth of peel penetration while stimulating collagen production. Its hygroscopic nature provides efficient and effective protein denaturation.
VITAMIN C (ASCORBIC ACID): powerful water soluble antioxidant that provides important protection against damage, induced by UV radiation. Reduces erythema, acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor, and controls inflammatory enzymes.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
All VI Peels are safe for use on all Fitzpatrick Skin Types. Therefore, a patient’s skin tone does not determine safety. The following list of contraindications does determine safety in proceeding with a VI Peel
PATIENTS WHO HAVE THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE NOT CANDIDATES FOR A VI PEEL:
- Patients who have an aspirin, phenol, or hydroquinone allergy
- Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Patients who have a used oral isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 months
- Patients who have acitve cold sores, warts, or open wounds
- Patients with a history of herpes simplex must be pre-treated with an antiviral
- Patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy within 6 months
- Patients with a history of an autoimmune or liver disease/disorder as well as any condition that may weaken their immune system
